Facebook Plans a New Name: Facebook has been known by the same name for the last 17 years, but now preparations are underway for its re-branding. It is reported that the name of Facebook is about to change and its official announcement is going to be made soon by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The new name may be announced at an event.

According to the report of The Verge, a Facebook conference is going to be held on October 28 in which Mark Zuckerberg can announce the new name of Facebook. It has been said in the report that apart from the Facebook app, there can be big announcements regarding the names of other products of the company like Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus etc., although no official comment has been made by Facebook on this report yet.
What is Metaverse
Earlier this week, Facebook said that it is now going to become a metaverse company, for which it has hired 10,000 people and there will be other appointments in the future. Metaverse refers to a virtual world in which people exist even if they are not physically present. The term metaverse is similar to virtual reality and augmented reality.

Not only Facebook, but the world’s big tech companies are investing in the metaverse. Mark Zuckerberg believes that in the coming times, people will know Facebook as a metaverse company, not just a social media company.
Facebook will recruit massively over five years to build on its real- and virtual-world experiences. People will be hired in this recruitment drive in other countries including France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, and Spain.
