Kamya Punjabi was born on 13 August 1979 in a Punjabi family in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She took her early education from a private school in Mumbai and graduated from Mumbai itself. Kamya had a passion for acting since childhood, she loved being in front of the camera.

Kamya started her career with modeling and then in the year 2001, she made her acting debut in TV from Sh.. Koi Hai serial and in the year 2002 she worked in serials like Kehta Hai Dil, Kyun Hota Hai Pyaar and Piya Ka Ghar.
Kamya Punjabi worked in Astitva Ek Prem Kahani serial from 2002 to 2006. From 2005 to 2007, Kamya appeared in Woh Rahne Wali Mahalo Ki serial and after that, she was seen doing stand-up comedy in 2008 in Comedy Circus with Rajeev Thakur. Since 2016, Shakti is working in Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki starring Rubina Dilaik.
